Day Six - Goldsboro to Princeton

Posted by Philip Brown on Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Today we set out from the Goldsborough Bridge Battlefield and at about 8:30 am. We walked through some very pretty countryside along the Neuse River. I started the day walking with Julia.

After lunch, Andrew from Duke Homestead joined me for a couple of hours. Then I was joined by Conner, my college roommate and close friend. Conner and I completed the last 3 miles to Princeton together. Princeton gave us a very warm reception. There was a short wreath laying ceremony at the veterans memorial downtown where I met several veterans.

Then, the Mayor read a proclamation making May 16, 2015 Philip Brown day in Princeton, North Carolina. I was honored, humbled, and flattered all at once. It was truly and awesome experience. The day concluded with a meal of friend chicken and some much needed rest. Tomorrow I set out for Smithfield.
