Tonight I am writing inside a barn in the Goldsborough
Bridge Battlefield. I left this morning from the Cliffs of the Neuse State
Park. On my way out of the park I stopped at the visitor center and looked at
some of the wonderful exhibits.
Myself and Julia then hit the road. The weather was
generally very nice and the terrain was rolling which was a welcome relief from
the boring flat lands that I have previously covered.
We covered a total of 13 miles today from the Seven Springs
area to Goldsborough.
Upon arriving to Goldsborough I encountered Federal guards
who inspected my pass and parole before handing me over to a well-dressed
After being shown where I could sleep in this barn I was
treated to a nice tradition Irish dinner and was shown some fascinating 1862
& 1865 history.
I will always remember my time in Goldsborough as a time of
fascinating surprise. The folks at the Goldsborough Bridge Battlefield
Association have a true treasure here.
I am looking forward to meeting some old friends tomorrow on
